About our Team:

In the world of cars every journey begins with the first turn of a wrench. Often, "first projects" never see the light of day. The difference between those who succeed and those who don't may lie in the fact that those who develop their talents never give up. They keep pushing themselves to reach higher and higher skill levels.

SolidMasters design team is no stranger to the world of custom car builders. Our efforts are well documented.

For the aficionado of the homebuilt custom car, Fred Vierheller has proven time and time again that persistence complements creativity, leading many trendsetting custom cars to roll from garages. During his career as a Mechanical Designer, he has worked in big and small shops. As computer designer he share his talents with Lill' John Buttera for seven years. Still one  irrefutable fact remains: some of his best work has driven out of his home garage.

His close friend J.C. Alvarez received the Race Engineer of the Year in 2006. Currently, he has been spending his days as a design consultant for SolidMasters,

Yet he remains modest and unassuming. Talking about himself, he says "I'm just a tiny piece of the overall picture."

Gaston Baudena is our Lead Craftsman more than 20 years experience restoring and building cars from a raw sketch for selective collectors. His talent bring him to the states serving the largest car manufacturers in the US. His signature: singular attention to detail.

Fancy shop doesn’t guarantee perfect restoration

Don’t assume a fancy, well-equipped shop with high-dollar equipment will equal a perfect restoration. Bar none, the best restorers I have ever seen have modest shops, some even without paint booths, turn out absolutely incredible restorations. There is no substitute for raw talent, patience, and pride.

When you do finally pick a shop, ask for a project plan with a timeline, including detailed accounting throughout the project. Request weekly updates with detailed photos via email. Expect to pay invoices on a set schedule. You need to make regular visits to the shop to confirm that work is being done properly and on schedule.
Our shop is not "pretty" but we bring out outstanding cars for about $ 140,000. This is assuming that the car needs no significant metal work and had no missing expensive or unobtainable parts, either of which could easily add tens of thousands of dollars to the total. We would, of curse, discuss with you any additional moneys that needed to be spend.

As you can see, restoration is a serious commitment. Your first and most important decision is figuring out to which level you want to take a car, and why.

Then, after picking the right car, it is paramount that you do your homework to find the right shop for your particular needs and that the members of your new team share your philosophy of racing and restoration.

Furthermore,  speaking from experience, I can tell you that being involved from start to finish will reward you with "your car" beening restored "your way".
